JCI Cambridge supports

Junior Chamber International considers community projects an important area and members always show great enthusiasm for running these projects and offering a helping hand. Community projects give our members an opportunity to manage and run projects, and we love getting involved within the local community.

Christmas Tree Appeal - JCI Cambridge's most popular project is the Christmas Tree Appeal.  We go along to local shopping centres in December and ask people to donate a Christmas present for children who are under the local social services care.  We have managed to raise over 1,000 presents each year.  A very worthwhile cause and a true achievement.

Blood Drive - Blood Drive is an important cause and JCI Cambridge this year wants to raise more awareness. Donating blood can save other people's lives, plus, you never know when you might need blood!  If you are interested in giving blood, please sign up on https://secure.blood.co.uk/enrol.asp - an introduction package will be send to you, with details and next time the blood drive is near you. The need for both whole blood and platelet donors is a great one so if you are interested please visit www.blood.co.uk or call 0300 123 23 23 to find more information or to find a local blood donor session.

Anglia Ruskin University Mentoring Scheme - We also support the Employer Mentoring Scheme at Anglia Ruskin University. Could you help an Anglia Ruskin student get a realistic picture of the workplace, the opportunities - and obstacles - they're likely to face? The scheme is designed to match up students from the Anglia Ruskin University (in their second year) with people in relevant jobs who can help them gain an understanding of their work environment, its culture, its expectations, its demands and even its frustrations.  Check out our blog post for more info.

Chariots of Fire Chariots of Fire is a great opportunity for a charity run in Cambridge on the land of Trinity, Kings and Clare Colleges in September, each team consist of 6 runners who each have to run 1.7 miles one at a time, competing against other teams which is lots of fun.  All money raised will be going to a good cause. The 2010 race raised more than £50,000 for two local charities - Home Start, Cambridge and Wallace Cancer Care. Please let us know if you are interested in running as a part of a JCI team, or if you want to take part in organising and raising money.

JCI Cambridge members gain a lot from helping in the community and running projects are a great experience and everybody enjoys the sense of achievement.  Please contact us if you would like us to help out on any other community projects.
